The course is ideal for anyone seeking to improve their understanding of current CIL legislation and the complex administration process that underpins collection and apportionment. It will be particularly useful for new or aspiring CIL Officers, and Managers responsible for implementing CIL collection arrangements within Planning and other stakeholder departments.

The workshop will cover all main aspects of CIL governance including validation, liability, interested parties, charges, notices, reliefs and surcharges, appeals, finance, enforcement, apportionment and spending.

Course leader Geoff Kirby spent ten years as a Local Authority Planning Contributions Manager, during which time he provided training to more than two hundred Councils in S106 monitoring and enforcement. As a professional consultant he has spent the past two years helping a number of CIL-pioneer Councils to prepare for CIL introduction, and as such he has a unique and unrivalled insight into how Local Authorities are interpreting and applying CIL legislation in the real world. The workshop programme will also feature other guest speakers with expert knowledge in particular areas of CIL legislation, calculation and best practice.

The cost for the two-day workshop is just £450 + VAT per person, which includes a two course lunch and refreshments on both days. The workshop venue is located on the outskirts of Colchester, and has excellent transport links to the rest of the UK by road and rail.

Space at the workshop is strictly limited to 20 places so that this intensive course can be covered thoroughly with a small delegate group. Demand is expected to be high and early booking is strongly recommended.
